Expansion of Recovery Houses

Recovery houses can provide structure, psycho-education, safety, and better access to treatment. An increase in recovery housing promotes more structure for communities and states struggling with opioid addiction (SAMSHA, 2016)

“The mentality and behavior of drug addicts and alcoholics is wholly irrational until you understand that they are completely powerless over their addiction and unless they have structured help, they have no hope.” – Russell Brand

Mother and Baby

I recommend:

An increase in specialized recovery houses to target different populations. For example:

  • A house for Pregnant Women, Mothers, and Children

  • A house for Couples

  • A house for LGBTQ-identified people

  • A Spanish speakers house, etc.
