Medication-Assisted Treatment

Many state and local governments have developed policies regarding medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to combat the crisis (NACO, 2019).   These policies are designed to make MAT available for the people that need it.

What is it?

MAT is medication to reduce the severity of withdrawal symptoms from opioids. This medication can make it possible for a person dependent on opioids to live a more functional life.
